Why this role matters

The Operations Summer Student plays a hands-on role in keeping our Business Agronomy Locations running smoothly through the busiest months of the growing season. Working alongside our operations and agronomy teams, you’ll help get product to growers on time, keep our yard and chem shed safe and organized, and gain real-world experience across agricultural retail, from inventory and delivery to crop scouting in the field. It’s a great opportunity for students who want practical experience and a closer look at a career in agriculture.

What you’ll own and impact

Customer Service & Support – Assist growers in person, in the yard, and over the phone, making sure they receive accurate information and timely, friendly service.

Yard & Chem Shed Operations – Help maintain and operate the yard site and chemical shed, keeping product organized, facilities clean, and equipment in good working order.

Inventory & Product Delivery – Support accurate inventory control by receiving, loading, and tracking product, and deliver product to customers safely and on schedule.

Safety & Work Orders – Follow all safety protocols, read and complete work orders accurately, and document activities where required to keep our team and customers safe.

Team Collaboration – Work closely with location team members and pitch in wherever needed during peak seasons, including other duties as assigned.

The Rack continually invests in local, independent research to support a sustainable future for farming. Our Ultimate Yield Program is an organized agronomic and financial farm management system designed to increase efficiency for our growers, built on foundation agronomy and a holistic look at every aspect of management that ultimately determines final yield.

As a Research Summer Student, you’ll work as part of the Ultimate Yield research team, helping maintain and evaluate research plots and carry out agronomic research aimed at improving crop production. It’s a hands-on opportunity to see how field research turns into practical recommendations for growers.

What you’ll own and impact

Research Plot Operations – Assist the research team with in-field operations, helping establish, maintain, and evaluate research plots throughout the growing season.

Data Collection & Management – Collect accurate in-field data and support office data management, making sure research results are recorded carefully and completely.

Agronomic Field Support – Assist the Ultimate Yield team with agronomic duties including crop scouting, tissue sampling, and soil sampling.

Team Communication – Keep team members updated on progress and help ensure timelines and deadlines are met.

Team Collaboration – Work closely with the Ultimate Yield team and pitch in wherever needed, including other duties as required.

The Agronomy Summer Student works alongside our Agronomy Team to support growers through the busiest part of the growing season. You’ll spend much of your time in the field scouting crops and collecting samples, helping our agronomists deliver timely, accurate recommendations. It’s a great opportunity for students who want practical, hands-on agronomy experience and a closer look at a career in agriculture.

What you’ll own and impact

Customer Support – Assist with customer management, making sure growers receive accurate information and timely, friendly service.

Crop Scouting – Scout fields to monitor crop development, pests, and disease, and report findings back to the agronomy team.

Tissue & Soil Sampling – Collect tissue and soil samples accurately and on schedule to support in-season and long-term agronomic recommendations.

Safety & Work Orders – Follow all safety protocols, read and complete work orders accurately, and document activities where required.
