Our Story

More than 40 years ago in Biggar,SK,  Dennis and Lynda Bulani began with a single fuel truck, a young family, and a simple commitment: serve growers well. What started as bulk fuel agents quickly became something much bigger — a Saskatchewan-grown, family-run agricultural company built on relationships, hard work, and a passion for agronomy.

Built on Service and Innovation

In 1984, Dennis and Lynda founded Bulani Agro Inc., supplying fuel to local growers. They believed early on that success in agriculture required more than products — it required knowledge and then added fertilizer, crop protection, and trusted agronomic advice to their business.

In 1990, they introduced the first variable-rate spreader truck in the area, bringing leading-edge precision technology to prairie farms long before it became common practice. Growth followed, and new locations were added as more growers looked for a partner focused on efficiency and results.

The Birth of The Rack

In 2001, Dennis and Lynda launched Rack Petroleum as an Independent Ag Retailer. Over time, Rack Petroleum evolved into what is now known as The Rack — a modern, full-service prairie ag retailer rooted in family values and independent thinking.

While The Rack provides comprehensive crop protection and nutrition solutions, it is perhaps best known for Dennis’ brainchild: Racketeer® Bulk Glyphosate — an industry-leading on-farm bulk handling system available in 8,000 L and 22,000 L tanks. Designed to improve efficiency, reduce tote handling, and enhance security and environmental stewardship, the system reflects the company’s commitment to innovation that truly serves growers.

Innovation didn’t stop there. Through its research division, The Rack developed Rogue®, an in-house solution designed to offset micronutrient deficiencies often induced by herbicide use — another example of practical science meeting real-world challenges.

Agronomy at the Core

From the very beginning, agronomy has been the cornerstone of the Bulani family’s philosophy. That commitment is embodied in Ultimate Yield, The Rack’s research-driven agronomy division.

Ultimate Yield utilizes a proprietary Farm Production Assessment (FPA) built around six key production factors to evaluate performance and develop customized, data-backed management plans. The goal is simple: help growers improve efficiency, optimize inputs, and drive profitability acre by acre.

Agronomy isn’t an add-on — it’s the foundation that guides every business decision, investment, and innovation at The Rack.

A Second Generation

In 2015, Cassandra Morari joined the company, continuing the Bulani family legacy and reinforcing The Rack’s commitment to remaining independent and family-owned. Together, Dennis and Cassandra blend experience and forward-thinking energy, uniting two generations around a shared vision for prairie agriculture.

Today and Tomorrow

Today, The Rack employs a dedicated team across 14+ Saskatchewan locations, united by one guiding vision: To improve the efficiency by which growers produce food.

To improve the efficiency by which growers produce food.

From fuel to fertilizer, crop protection to bulk handling systems, research to retail — every part of The Rack is built around helping growers succeed. And when growers succeed, communities thrive.

More than four decades later, the mission remains unchanged: Stay independent. Stay innovative. Stay committed to the growers who built us.
